Finding Yourself After a Life Transition

So, you’ve been through a big change. Life shifted. You made it through. Congratulations.

It may have been a loss, a good riddance, a WTF, or a YEAY! Either way, life is now completely different and you’re in this liminal space waiting to see what this new life is all about.

You may feel a bit lost, but that's often part of finding yourself after a life transition. You are evolving, transforming, becoming the butterfly. This is the perfect moment to pause and reflect.

Explore the shift and all that it taught you.

Explore what worked and what didn’t.

Explore what you released and where you want to go from here.

All these things will give you some clarity about who you are starting to become.

Every Life Transition Has Something to Teach You

When you explore the shift, you’ll start to see the nuances of all that happened and how it was working FOR you, not against you. You’ll see the lessons that were provided. They may have been right there in your face, or they could have been more subtle, where you only see them as you look back.

Take a moment to journal about it all. Rant, rave, laugh, and be grateful for this transition. Notice the good along with the bad. Reflect and find the gold. This is easy for ‘good’ transitions. It’s a bit harder for transitions that start off negatively. There’s a lot of opportunity in each shift, a lot of learning to be had, and a lot of growth into your most authentic self.

Growth isn’t always easy. It comes with mistakes and pitfalls. And this is where exploring what worked, and what didn’t, comes into play. When reviewing your actions and their results you get to be an observant scientist. There is no judgement, just a curiosity…a yearning to learn.

Finding Yourself After a Life Transition Means Looking Within

Perhaps you’ve learned that the thing you are so good at and you’ve been doing for so long, isn’t something you really enjoy doing. You’re just doing it because you’re good at it.

Maybe you find yourself doing things that you took on without anyone asking and now you’re resentful because you feel like you have to…but you’d rather be doing something else.

And what about that thing that you steal 5 minutes each day to do that no one knows about? What if THAT could be brought more to the forefront?

This is where you begin sorting through all the lessons, the different versions of yourself, and everything you've been carrying. Some parts still fit beautifully. Others belonged to a woman who needed them for a different season of life. Your job isn't to judge either version. It's simply to decide what you want to carry into your next chapter.

What still feels true?

What beliefs have changed?

What feels heavy?

What are you excited to carry forward?

Choosing What Belongs in Your Next Chapter

If something is useful, keep it. This is true of physical things as well as mental and emotional things. Certain behaviors, thoughts, and reactions may be supporting you and the life you want, while others are holding you back. You get to choose what works for you and what doesn’t.

Not everything is required to stay with you for your whole lifetime. This includes people, places, things, attitudes, and beliefs. You may have to say thank you and goodbye to some very dear people, ideals, and things in order to fully move forward into your most authentic self.

This is where your BIG Dream comes into play. It will help you to determine what’s a fit and what isn’t. AND, if it no longer fits, that’s ok. There’s nothing wrong with ‘it’, it just no longer works with where you’re going. If you can, be grateful and appreciative that ‘it’ did its job and got you where you are now. If you’re not there yet, that’s ok…there may come a time when you can look back and find the gratitude through the pain. Then, step forward with love and confidence into your BIG Dream.

All the clues are there for you…each action, each statement, each feeling. Your BIG Dream is calling you forward, not to become someone new but to become more fully yourself. This is your time to reflect and give yourself permission to move forward. Celebrate all the lessons, all the baby steps, and all the ways you've grown. They are leading you toward a life that feels more authentic, more joyful, and more like you.

If this season has left you wondering what's next, know that you don't have to have every answer today. Sometimes finding yourself after a life transition isn't about searching harder. It's about creating the quiet space to hear what your heart has been trying to tell you all along.

That's exactly why I created the BIG Dream Visualization. In just a few peaceful minutes, you'll step away from the noise of everyday life, reconnect with what truly matters to you, and begin uncovering the dreams that may have been waiting patiently beneath your responsibilities and expectations.

Your next chapter isn't about becoming someone new. It's about becoming more fully yourself.

Download the free BIG Dream Visualization today and give yourself permission to imagine what could be possible. Your BIG Dream may be closer than you think.
