Moments of Celebration: The Small Wins That Keep You Going

When time is short, it’s important to celebrate every little win along the way. But I get it… Your day is busy and you have all the things going on at once! WHEW! There doesn’t seem to be any space to acknowledge all that you are accomplishing. It’s just straight on to the next thing and totally forget about what just happened.

I’ve been there! And by the end of the day you’re wondering just what happened and only remembering the things you didn’t get done. It feels overwhelming and endless. Like no matter how hard you work nothing ever really gets completed, recognized, or acknowledged. It’s just “what you do.”

Celebrate the Side Quests

It’s time to start celebrating all those little things along the way. Start with writing it down and putting a little star next to all the things you did. Be sure to add in all the ‘extras’ that happen along the way. Those squirrel moments of “OH CRAP! THIS thing needs to be done!”

And as you’re walking out of the store from one of those side quests, allow yourself a little 10-Second Bootie Wiggle™ as you walk to your car. Sing yourself a little song about winning the day as you click send on that email.

These moments of tiny celebration acknowledge the work you are doing, even in the milieu of the day's events where nothing and everything seems to be happening at the same time.

Little Wins Build Big Energy

These mini celebrations help to close the loop on your activities and give you the motivation and encouragement to continue on, making you feel fulfilled by the end of the day. And when you feel fulfilled, you have the energy and desire to continue doing more.

These little celebrations are not time wasters, they’re time creators! Somehow time expands when you’re having fun.

Celebrate as You Go

I remember working with a client for a ‘day-in-the-life’ session and she was complaining that she didn’t even have time in her day to go shopping for food because of all the other responsibilities she had on her plate.

At that moment, we had 30 minutes before having to leave to pick up her kids from school. So, I suggested going shopping right then. She said there was no way it could be done. But I said let’s try. For about 5 minutes, we figured out what she absolutely required and walked into Costco. We gave ourselves 15 minutes to shop and 5 minutes to check out, set a timer and WENT!

We didn’t allow ourselves to be distracted by all the fun things (hard to do in Costco!) and just went for the items on the list.

With every item we put in the cart we celebrated with “DONE! Whoop!” When there was something close that caught her eye and was not on the list, we added it to the cart with a flourish of “EXTRA!”

We were done and out packing the truck after only 15 minutes! We had 10 minutes to spare before having to leave. (Have you EVER done a Costco run in 15 minutes? 😮 I didn’t think so.) She was laughing and giggling by the end of it and felt so much better that she picked her kids up with a smile and laughter on the drive home.

Those little moments of celebration, “DONE! Whoop!”, “EXTRA!”, and a little bit of Bootie Wiggling, pull you out of the downward spiral of no time, no pleasure, no drive so that you can smile and laugh during your day with those you love most.

If you’re ready to build more of these energy-boosting pauses into your routine, grab the 10-Second Bootie Wiggle™. It’s quick, it’s fun, and it’s the permission slip you didn’t know you needed to celebrate your small wins in a BIG way. 💃💃💃
