You Are Worth It: Reclaim Self-Care and Step Into Your BIG Dream
When you feel like you’re not good enough, self-care can feel indulgent or even pointless. Like, why even take a shower or brush your teeth? (Yes, it can get to that point.)
It may not be that bad at the moment, but the thought and feeling of not being good enough can and will eat away at your will to take care of yourself…and you are the only YOU you have.
It might look like not going to the doctor, not hanging out with friends, or not providing yourself the essentials of living. It starts with not allowing yourself that cup of tea when you know you need it, then it might lead to not going to the bathroom when nature calls. And you find yourself at your computer after a full day of working without ever having gotten up to eat.
Start With Small Self-Care Steps
If you notice yourself not taking care of you, it might be time for a little shift.
You are worth the time it takes to go to the bathroom. You are worth the time it takes to get a glass of water. You are worth the time it takes to hang out with friends. You are worth good food in your body.
By practicing self-care, you’ll nurture your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. When you feel good about yourself it naturally shows through to the world. Then people will see just how amazing you really are. (They notice it now, believe me, but they’ll really be stunned when you know it about yourself. 😉)
As you accept your own worthiness and begin to care for yourself, you will feel stronger, more capable, and more deserving of your dreams. The inspirations from your BIG Dream will begin to show up, showing you where your path is, leading you towards a more fulfilled life.
You’ll begin to prioritize self-compassion, quiet the inner critic, and embrace your own worthiness. Because you ARE worthy. You ARE amazing. And you have a divine spark within you that is a gift to this world. As you begin to practice self-care and do things that make you feel good, you’ll start to see opportunities for sharing your gift. Excitement will reenter your life and you will find a purpose to live into.
So start with one thing…what’s one thing that you used to enjoy doing that you let slide? It could be something fun and silly or it could be something as important as brushing your teeth. What is one thing you can re-implement to take care of yourself?
Quiet The Inner Critic With Truth And Compassion
Beware…starting to do this thing may bring up some loud and nasty voices in your brain. There are things that I do to take care of myself where these voices SCREAM at me while I’m doing it. They have the most foul, hurtful, shaming things to say…but I fight through it, crying each and every time I do the thing and eventually, they start to quiet down and the thing becomes easier to do.
I push myself through the process because I know those voices are lying and the thing I’m doing is really good for me. It’s also a process of letting those voices go, feeling the hurt, and knowing that those who said those things initially were probably in pain and used me as a scapegoat.
It’s also an opportunity to step back and assess…are those things true? Most of the time, they are not. When you can provide proof to yourself that the voices are lying, you can start to heal. Keep your positive ‘evidence bucket’ handy and continue to put the good things into it for these moments. It is a well of treasure for you moving forward.
Remember: You Are Worth It
Bottom line, you are WORTH finding and following your BIG Dream into the future you deserve. Remember, your dream chose you! That’s a pretty big acknowledgment from the Universe. You have the skills, experience, personality, and drive to make the Dream happen. It’s time to step into that energy and start believing in yourself again.
